Abcellute Tissue Banks broad supplier network provides it with access to a reliable stream of tissue which is then processed to create a high quality biomedical research resource.

What we offer

The main tissues and cells that we are supplied with and that are offered to our end-users are:

Who we supply to

Abcellute Tissue Bank has received a favourable opinion from a NHS REC to operate as a Research Tissue Bank under NRES guidelines to procure, process and dispatch a wide range of human tissues, organs and cells to researchers in industry, academia and healthcare institutions across the world. Abcellute Tissue Bank supplies biomedical researchers in the public and private sector, including health service, academic and biopharmaceutical industry research organisations.

Why source material from ATB?

Quality: we quality control samples before they are shipped to end-users and only send material that meets our strict release criteria.
Viability: the conversion of the tissue we receive into material that is suitable for use in biomedical research is carried out by experts in tissue processing; this ensures that unrivalled viability is achieved with the material we provide.
Predictability: because we source material from multiple sources, we are able to smooth out the supply issues that have been associated with the procurement of human tissue for biomedical research.
Convenience: we strive to supply material that is as convenient to use as possible; the SureTran™ transport media allows us to supply fresh hepatoctyes with a five day shelf life, allowing researchers to plan vital experiments in confidence and avoids costly and inconvenient out-of-hours working.

SureTranTM Transport System

Normally, cells removed from the body must be used immediately. However, the SureTran™ technology developed by Abcellute’s scientists effectively means that cells can be used successfully over five days from processing. This is achieved through the immersion of the cells in a unique matrix which coats and protects them prior to transport. The metabolic function of the cells is preserved and they remain in their original native state. Prior to use, the transport medium is washed out and cells subsequently retain their ‘intact whole organ’ characteristics.

The use of the unique SureTran™ technology means that researchers can source cells when they need them, less tissue is lost, and experimental accuracy is improved. This technology has been applied to hepatocytes and its broader applicability is under development.

Through our sister company, Abcellute Limited, we can also offer additional cell types to support the needs of biomedical researchers worldwide. For more information, please contact Abcellute Limited.
